Selecting an entry from the list will return matches on the first three characters i.e. wife will search for any entry beginning with the letters wif. The vast majority of people will have been recorded as head, wife, son, daughter or lodger. However, there may be other terms used at the time of the census so you may see other terminology in the result list.
